The Best Desktop Printers CAn Be Expensive
Choosing the best desktop printer for your personal or business needs can be difficult. Like the rest of the computer world, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of options available to you. Knowing what you're looking for before you start looking can save you some valuable time and help you find the best deals for your printing needs.
First, decide what you'll be looking for in desktop printers. Do you need to print a lot of material, or just some things every now and then? Do you need to print photos? Do you want to be able to make copies or scan pictures into your computer? All of these are things to consider when you're looking for a new printer, and all are good to keep in mind.
The most common kinds of desktop printers, great for light to moderate use, are the standard inkjet printers. These printers are rarely more than a hundred dollars and run off of standard ink cartridges available at most stores that sell computer parts of any kind. Inkjet printers are also often coupled with scanners for about thirty or forty dollars more (often around eighty dollars total) and are capable of sending faxes or printing copies. Unfortunately, inkjet printers are also rather slow – five or six pages a minute for black and white text and much slower for pictures or color.
Other kinds of printers include laser desktop printers, which are more expensive but much faster, and dye-sublimation desktop printers, which are also more expensive and are used for advanced photography solutions. Be aware of your options and you'll come out with the best choice in the end.
