Virtumonde.pf can be very difficult to remove. The first time I came across it, it took over 4 hours for me to kill. Let me say this. I have been working on computers for a living for about 12 years now so when I have trouble on something like this I can only imagine how hard it can be for many others.
One of the main reasons why it is hard to fully remove this trojan is because as soon as you kill one of the active spyware threats it re-replicates and another takes it’s place. Not only that virtumonde.pf downloads many other trojan and adware threats that just compound the issue. Items such as Smitfraud, Virus Heat and Sysprotect.
For those reasons you need to have a good plan for Virtumonde removal. There is a free tool online called vundofix.exe that does work at removing virtumonde.pf about 50% of the time. The issue is even if you mange to remove this threat you still have to deal with all the other spyware. Vundofix does not take care of anything else and does not give protection. You got infected in the first place because you did not have enough protection. You realy should consider buying something like Spyware Doctor.
Even with anti-spyware software to remove this adware it can be hard if you are not tech savy. That is why I recommend not even trying to do it yourself. Call a local tech or take your system to a computer shop. Yes it will cost a few hundred but for the headache it will cost to do it yourself you will be glad you did. Another alternative is to have your computer repaired over the internet. This works well for many because they do not have to invite a stanger into their home or have to take their computer anywere. The cost is also cheaper. I have used this site “Virtumonde removal” and they do a great job so you may want to start there.
If all else fails and you are broke and don’t have the cash to have a pro repair your computer then you can always format and re-load your operating system. I know many people who have gone this route. You do still need to realize that you need to purchase a program to be fully protected. Not just an anti-virus scanner but also an anti-spyware program or better yet go with an Internet Security suit that has them both.
Stay away from the free programs that are online. Yes they work to an extent but half the free programs out there are spyware themselves and the other half do not give you all round protection. Way to many people are cheap and don’t want to fork over for the software but if you do not you will find yourself in the same boat again down the road.
