Game Systems

Back when I was a teenager, my friends and I were arcade nuts!  We would hit the arcade inside our local mall almost every day, after school, to see if we could beat the high score on the latest race car game, as well as through some ski ball.  Back then it was all about spending our allowances in the arcade.  It's hard to imagine exactly how much money we spent playing those games, and the truth is, I probably don't want to know.  Can you imagine, today, a clerk at the video store telling a customer how much money they've spent on rentals?  In this day and age, arcades aren't as filled as they were in my day.  Now days, home video game systems are extremely popular, as home game systems have greatly improved over the years.

Realistic graphics associated with some home game systems have helped in almost forcing local arcades completely out of existence.  Some of the most recent versions of home game systems like Xbox and Sony Playstation, can exhibit graphics almost as realistic as watching a movie, or watching television.  While some arcade games can tend to be cartoonish, some of the most recent home game systems have games that are almost as real looking as you or I.  I'm not talking about Atari or the old Nintendo, as those graphics were absolutely never the best, however, I'm talking about game systems like:

The other day when I was visiting my buddy, I actually thought he was watching an NFL game, however he was playing on of his xbox 360 home game systems to play a game.

There are other factors besides the awesome graphics that are helping these home game systems to replace the local arcade.  Teenagers are starting to weigh their options.  They tend to ask themselves why they should spend all their extra money in the local arcade when they could save up for one of the home game systems, like the xbox 360 and play as much as they want.  Some of the games for the games for these systems can seem costly, in comparison to the amount of money one may spend at the arcade, they are a great deal!  With game systems becoming so popular, there are also places to buy used video games for a lesser cost, as well as places that will rent games for your system.  Plus, games for a home video game systems make great gifts.

While arcades can still be found, they are quickly becoming a thing of the past.  New game systems not only have many great benefits, they can end up saving money that may have otherwise been spent in an arcade.  Not only that, with constant upgrades and improvements, playing a game on newer versions of home gaming systems can be almost like the REAL experience. Personally I think the xbox 360 is the best game console on the market narrowly out performing the playstation 3.
