How to Avoid Spyware

Spyware is a form of malware that gets into your computer and does everything from sending your internet browser to random home pages to stealing your personal identity. As such, it is crucial that you take preventive steps to keep spyware from getting into your operating system and eliminating it if it has already gotten inside.

Making sure that you don't get any spyware in the future and getting rid of any you have now is done by getting a spyware removal program. You can get them for free from trusted sources such as Ad-Aware by Lavasoft. You can also buy them for around $50. When looking for a free solution, watch out for online advertisements offering spyware software as they may be spyware in disguise.

Yes, you're going to need software if you don't want spyware. But there are also things that you should do by yourself to prevent it...

Keep you operating system (OS) and browser on the newest version by updating them. Also, you may want to ditch Internet Explorer as it is the most used web browser and, as such, the most targeted for spyware.

You're going to want to avoid P2P file sharing networks because some automatically place spyware on your computer and you have a chance of getting spyware if you download something from one of these file sharing programs.

Make sure to only upload files from sites that are trusted. Music and movie downloads are well known for having spyware, especially if it is for free.

The settings on your internet security should be at the medium level, if not higher. You can adjust these settings by going to the tools section of your internetbrowser.

To make sure that someone can't get remote access to your computer, you're going to want a firewall installed.

Do not install a free toolbar from an online company, which you've never heard of before. The toolbar may very well be spyware in disguise. It is best to download toolbars from trusted companies, such as Google.

A lot of people say that you should read the license agreements as well as the privacy statements when trying to get rid of spyware. Rather than actually spending time reading this material, just be sure to only download from places that you trust.

Protect Your PC from Internet Speed Monitor and Malware in General

The term malware stands for malicious software. One such program is Internet Speed Monitor. Malware installs programs onto your computer automatically without getting your permission. The common term for malware is spyware, some malware programs spy on your online activity. Most often for displaying targeted ads to you. It can also install Trojans and other viruses onto your system without your knowledge. Malware can cause your computer to have delays in performance and they can even cause your computer to run so slow that you lose data.

Spyware and adware are types of programs that get installed on your computer through a software install or by visiting certain websites and clicking on misleading pop-ups. They gather information about your internet searching habits and transmit that information to advertisers who then assail you ith their ads. Once your computer is infected with these parasites your computing experience will be significantly affected.

Your computer will invariably run much more slowly as the programs use up your system's resources. Your internet speed will also be reduced as your bandwidth is sucked up by the pop-up ads assailing you. Keeping your computer clean of malware will greatly improve your computing experience.

Another good software that is necessary for protecting your computer from malware is an Anti-Spyware. These also need to be updated regularly just like an antivirus software to be sure you are catching the most recent threats. Some of these have the ability to optimize your web browser settings to help prevent the threat of spyware programs. You should run your Anti-Spyware program often as well.

Updating your software installs additional code to the program allowing it to fight against the latest threats. It is recommended to update your anti-virus software once a week and at the same time to scan your computer for existing spyware. I personally use a program called Spybot which is both very effective and free.

It is very important to take advantage of the updates offered by your operating system. These will contain patches for possible security breaches that are discovered in your operating system. This gives you better protection from malware programs like Internert Speed Monitor. If you are using windows, you can set your updater to run automatically. Automatic updates can be found in the security center of your control panel.

Early detection of malware that has been installed on your computer is important. It gives you the ability to remove it before you encounter any serious problems.
